I am certified with Sacred Belly Binding and Closing ceremony as a Postpartum Mother Roaster. I am currently certifying though Birth Arts International for my Birth, Postpartum Doula as well as Aromatherapy for Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum. I am training with Healing-touch program a form of energy medicine. I am a certified water aerobics instructor through Fitour having taught classes at the YMCA in Georgia. In my classes I've taught people from all different walks of life including expectant moms.
Through my journey I have been led down a path of discovery in the holistic field. I use Young Living essential oil to support the overall wellness.
I have worked with families of higher order multiples, twins, single, all shape and sizes and color. I believe that Everyone deserves love and support their transition into parenthood. It is a very special honor and privilege to be asked to join parents in that scared place their child is born. I treasure the time I get to spend with a parent during the postpartum period. It is a thrill to see this new parent grow with confidence and assurance. I have been honored to work with many families over the years and I would be honored to work with you.
I offer gift certificates for all services and packages.
I give discounts to Military, First Responders and repeat clients. While I am working on my certifications I will be offering discounts for my services for that certification till complete.
What is a Doula?
The word "doula" comes from an ancient Greek word. Today the word has come to refer to "a woman experienced in child birth who provides continuous physical emotional and informal support to the mother before during and just after childbirth"
(Klaus, Kennell, and Klaus (Mothering the new Mother)
As a Birth Doula I provide support to the mother as well as the partner. I do not replace anyone the mother wants there I just add support. I am also a 3rd party so I do not have the same emotional connection that a family member would have. I am hired by the family. Therefore I am not employed by where you choose to deliver. I go where you go.
There are three types of support I can provide during the birth invisible, minimum support, and main support. Studies have shown that just having a doula in the room who did nothing, but sit quietly there and think positive thoughts that the mother viewed the birth with a more positive outcome. The level of support you need would be decided by the needs of the mother.
I also teach the expectant family different techniques they can use during the birth as well as after. I am a resource for the family. I draw on all my education and experience to better serve the family. From relaxation technique, aroma therapy including essential oils (I only use Young living essential oils) to Healing Touch. I view birth as a natural part of life.
As Postpartum Doula I provide support to the new family. I can do light house work, quick runs to the store, watch older children, watch newborn while mother takes a shower or even a much needed nap. I have even been know to provide nighttime support so the parents can rest.
If you have any other questions about what a Doula is or dose please feel free to message me.
